National Virtual Lung Cancer Patient Group Focus on Stigma and Mental Health in Lung Cancer

HIGH POINT, NC- (July 26, 2024) The August meeting of the LiveLung Virtual Lung Cancer group will feature Sarah Price, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Prevention and Control at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, who will discuss “Stigma and other Psychosocial Issues in Lung Cancer Care”.

This free meeting is open to all lung cancer patients and survivors and their care partners. The meeting will be held at 12:00pm, Wednesday, August 14, 2024 via Zoom.

Dr. Sarah Price is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Prevention and Control at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. She received her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arizona and completed her pre-doctoral internship in Behavioral Medicine at the Charleston Consortium. Her research and clinical practice focus on helping patients and their loved ones cope with the challenges of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. She trained in theoretical and treatment approaches including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy, and she uses these skills to facilitate health behavior change and assist with issues such as depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance, adjustment concerns, and treatment side effects.

“Lung cancer stigma impacts virtually everyone who has been diagnosed with this disease, as well as their loved ones. When people are insensitive, instead of taking offense, I like to use it as an opportunity to educate others about lung cancer.” shares LiveLung Founder and Executive Director.

Lung cancer patients and their care partners are welcome to register for this free event at https://www.livelung.org/meetings.
